I did not future-proof for the family we planned
The place was fine. Two bedrooms, decent commute, cheap enough that we could breathe a bit. We sat at the kitchen table and did the numbers and it worked. There was a moment where my partner said something like, what if we need more space, and I just said we'd deal with it. I remember it was winter. Cold enough that the windows were fogged up while we were talking about it.
I don't know. I keep thinking I should have pushed harder on the question of what comes next. But I also know we probably couldn't have afforded the bigger place at the time anyway. So maybe it wouldn't have changed anything.
