Meal prepping on Sundays fixed my health more than any diet

I worked nights for nearly three years.Food was always the thing I dealt with later.I'd leave for work with nothing packed and tell myself I'd figure it out. At three in the morning that usually meant crisps from the vending machine or whatever was still open when I finished.I tried diets.Bought the expensive ingredients. Downloaded the apps. Lasted a couple of weeks. Then I'd have a bad shift, get home exhausted and eat whatever was easiest. One Sunday my fridge was basically empty apart from half a bottle of milk and some sauce. So I went shopping and cooked for the week.Nothing impressive. Chicken, rice, vegetables. A few containers on the fridge shelf. It took about two hours. The next night, at three in the morning, I opened the fridge at work and there was dinner.I didn't have to make a decision.I just ate it.I did the same thing the next week. Then the week after that.

I spent years thinking I needed more discipline. What I actually needed was to make the better choice easier when I was tired. I still order takeaway sometimes. I just don't have to make every meal decision at three in the morning anymore.
