I quit smoking at 50 and my only regret is the 30 years before

I ran a company through my thirties and forties and a cigarette was just part of the day. Coffee, cigarette, meeting, cigarette. I didn't think I was addicted so much as organised around it. Tried patches, tried gum, tried just deciding. Always bought another pack eventually. The smell didn't bother me anymore. That was probably the problem.

The thirty years weren't wasted exactly but I do think about them. The addiction made it seem like stopping would cost me something. It didn't cost me anything.
